When people in Indiana are unfairly fired on the basis of race, they have the right to seek justice through the legal system. One man in another state said he was terminated because of his age. He thus filed an age discrimination lawsuit against the company.

The 72-year-old man was hired into a field producer role for the television station KNBC back in 2006. A couple of years later, he was hired to become a content producer. However, he ended up being fired in 2012.

The man filed a legal suit against KNBC, as well as Comcast and NBCUniversal, alleging that his firing was really due to his age. The man said that right before his termination, a new team had joined the NBC news station to lead the production of news there. His supervisors reportedly made comments about his being a grumpy, old man who should simply quit his job. However, according to NBC, the man was really terminated due to insufficient performance. A trial will take place in November regarding the alleged discrimination matter.

It is unlawful for companies in Indiana and other states to treat employees poorly simply because they are old or young. If people end up being fired, demoted or discriminated against in another way because they are certain ages, it is within their rights to file age discrimination suits. In a successfully fought suit, remedies might include the reinstatement of a job as well as back pay, front pay and even lost benefits depending on the circumstances of the case.
