According to the Pew Research Center, 42% of female employees in the United States say they have experienced gender discrimination at some point during their careers, compared with only 22% of male employees. For example, women are about four times as likely as men to report that their coworkers or supervisors treat them as if they are incompetent, with 23% of female workers in American saying others have treated them in such a manner. Additionally, a quarter of all working women say they have received a lower salary than a man doing the exact same job, while only 5% of male employees said they had received lower pay than a female colleague.
