All employees deserve to be treated equally and respectfully by their employers and colleagues. Unfortunately, this does not always happen, and many employees are made to feel uncomfortable or even subjected to unwanted advances at work. Sexual harassment in the workplace is a serious matter and one that should not be ignored. Employees in Indiana should be aware of what is considered inappropriate conduct and be prepared to challenge it if it should occur.

In one example of a sexual harassment case, a lawsuit was filed against a male dentist by a former employee of a Michigan dental office. The female employee, who worked with him, alleged misconduct on the part of the dentist. The dentist’s alleged treatment of the woman was such that she felt she had no choice but to leave her position. She is now in the process of pursuing compensation for damages as well as an injunction to put a stop to further inappropriate actions on the part of her former employer.

According to her accusations, the dentist in question made sexual comments and physical advances. His alleged actions included an instance where he lifted up her shirt and another where he cornered her and exposed himself. The victim has also stated that the 54-year-old dentist was also in the habit of making sexual comments aimed at his employees and even to patients.

It is often difficult for people to respond to this kind of treatment. Sexual harassment can be harmful and demeaning. Furthermore, it is not always explicit, and it can be difficult for victims to prove that they are being mistreated. Nevertheless, such behaviour should never be tolerated, and victims should ensure that their plight does not go unnoticed.

Although this incident happened in another state, cases like this can occur just as easily in Indiana. Fortunately, this woman had the courage to confront the issue and stand up to the harassment. If you are being subjected to a hostile work environment, it is important not to feel isolated. An attorney with knowledge of employment law can help you challenge your harasser and seek the compensation you deserve.
